I always look forward to DIFF's Film Buzz series at Pavilion Downtown. One of last month's select trio was an Orson Welles classic The Stranger. The cinematography is outstanding (with the characteristic close-ups for effect), and while featuring a few predictable moments, the plot pacing and development was generally good as well. It's a great showcase for Welles' abilities as an actor and director.
Checked out the Little Black Jacket exhibition this weekend at "The Venue" in Downtown Dubai (on its last day, actually). It was quite heavily promoted in the Downtown area, so I took a peek. Basically, a lot of Karl Lagerfield photographs of models, actors and celebrities in general wearing the Chanel black jacket as reinterpreted by Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld. Each model wore the jacket in a unique way. Satellite exhibits were an interesting Yoko Ono video art installation and a room with progressive zoom-ins of a few of the posters, made using perforated sheets.
